Tom Esch has just released the single “I Just Can’t Believe It’s True”, a tribute to classic rock anthems with a vibrant alternative edge.
One of the standout numbers from the recent EP “The Modern Devices”, this heavy rock song is bursting full of rich guitar riffs and immense drum sounds. The passionate and energetic nature of this track reminds me of engaging stadium bands such as Foo Fighters and REM, to name but two influential groups.
Not only is this a catchy and immediately likable track, but the lyrical composition is distinctly striking. Some of my favorite lyrics in this single include the memorable “get thru the smoke and mirrors” and the haunting “so you say, disintegrate anyway”. Tom’s gritty and stirring voice breaks the instrumental arrangement, and he creates a clear and direct connection to the listener.
The production mix of “I Just Can’t Believe It’s True” is beautifully balanced, with an expert blend of the low, mid, and high-end frequencies. The production style perfectly supports the composition of Tom Esch, and brings out his skillful writing and engaging performance.
